College shows fun and Webseries launched

by Ed Cho on Apr.20, 2011, under Blog Posting

Just wanted to drop by my posts to keep everyone up to date on whats going on. I had the pleasure of performing at various colleges this Spring…some of the most notable were of course Colorado due to their unselfish acts of donating money to Japan…Arizona State due to me getting booed enoromously by making a Duke joke at the time of the sweet 16 (Good sports about it though… THANK GOODNESS), and last week we conquered University of Georgia with  my good friends Derek Michael and Adan Glyn. For the record if you have never seen UGA’s campus I would highly recommend visiting it… IT IS A GORGEOUS CAMPUS! The southern hospitality made that trip a great experience, looking forward to going back to all these schools in the near future.

My webseries “CHOke on this” is up as well, lots of fun filming and looking forward to posting more episodes in the future. The first show is at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OyUe3f40Glw Make sure you all email me so I can get ideas on what and who to film. My spring semester is almost up and will be working on the fall schedule soon, cant wait to do summer shows in the city…thanks everyone for coming out to the shows and I’ll be posting soon.

Having a good time this Spring!

by Ed Cho on Mar.23, 2011, under Blog Posting

Ahhh so I just came back from Arizona and a exciting show it was! I had fun with some of the students by making small Duke remarks, but all in all they were great sports about it and  all I can say is I cant wait to see them square off in the sweet 16!   Last week I had two shows, one at Colorado State and the other in Joliet Chicago. An amazing experience for both! In an unselfish act all the comics at the CO show donated all their earnings to the Red Cross Tsunami reflief fund…I was taken back by the generosity of not only the comics but the students as well. College kids are famous for not having money..well except for booze ;) but these kids found it in their hearts to donate any little amt they could afford. An absolutely brilliant display of  unselfishness and kindness to those in need overseas.  Chicago was equally as nice for I performed at a banquet to celebrate a congressmans accomplishments (whom which will remain nameless)….proceeds of that show were also donated to the relief fund! Moments like these are a great awakening in helping those who need help from a fellow man regardless of racial, political or religious views. I implore all comics entertainers etc…to utilize your talents and help what you can, karma can be a wonderful thing for those with a caring and smiling heart!!

An interesting 2011 so far

by Ed Cho on Feb.19, 2011, under Blog Posting

Hello everyone!! As you can see to the right I have updated some of my dates for the spring (not finished more will be added). I’ve been writing some new stuff combined with the old so as you can imagine Im pretty excited on hitting the road and rocking the mic as best as I can.  In the past few weeks I have hooked up with alot of new managers that put me in the right direction so as to broaden my capabilities as an entertainer, I will have a new webisode series coming out titled “CHOke On This” that will launch in the Spring “and” my acting chops will be featured in the new Chinoy independant called “Give Me A Beer” also slated to premier in the spring of 2011. To say I’m excited for the spring to arrive..well except for the baseball season to start (Mets fan here) is an understatement!!  To bring the laughs to students across the country?….does it get any better?? Sure!!! By bringing some of Jersey finest talent to come with…now that my friends is what its all about!! Keep checking in and see ya on the road!!

To a bright 2011

by Ed Cho on Jan.15, 2011, under Blog Posting

Just two days ago I did a show at Detours in Bound Brook with some very close friends of mine. My first show of the year so I really wanted to bring it for the audience. Well…not only did I have a great show, but so did my fellow comedians which put a smile on my face ear to ear :).  I see this show as an omen to what the new year has in store. There was positive energy, strong laughs and an appreciation of each others talents and uniqueness.  The past year had its ups and downs,,,this year i strive to put aside all the downs and concentrate on the positives!! My family..close friends and the blessing that I get to do this for a living.  Cant wait to bring the funny this new year!!! See ya in 2011!!!!

Hello..I’m back and would like to say that this summer (2010) so far has been fun not just for performing but with writing as well. As I write this there will be three more weeks until Labor Day (The unofficial end of summer) and I’m sure more great ideas and experiences await. I will unravel my whole summer when I post before the fall, but I just wanted to say thanks so far to everyone who has been sharing the stage with me and inspiring me to become the best I can be, doing the one thing that I love doing the most! Stay tuned for my summer recap!

Ok yeah the BK Rib bites bite the big one!

by Ed Cho on Jun.08, 2010, under Blog Posting

Been writing new jokes so I havent been blogging to much, but I had some time and thought this might be the opportune time to tell everyone to stay away from those BK rib bites.
Those that have seen the commercial of the talking pig (not to be confused with the trojan commercials) offering this dude these rib bites will surely agree that these things taste like the pig came right out the farm with no washing, cooking  or wiping its ass,,just gross! As a big fan of Thursday night with James Kass, he tried these things and once again..FAIL!! NO GOOD!! Now…for all of you that dont know James show there’s a bit called “Better With Bacon” in which he tries many different foods with bacon..i.e.. oreo’s,,,fruit,,,PB and jelly…things that just dont “go” with bacon. His reaction to the bites were worse than PBJ and Bacon. So if that doesnt tell you to avoid these processed nuggets than go ahead and waste your money in dissappointment.
Now dont get me wrong! I like Burger King and their Whoppers,,but lets just leave the Burgers to the King and the ribs to Outback.

Cinco De Mayo

by Ed Cho on May.05, 2010, under Blog Posting

Ok..so today’s Cinco De Mayo!  The day people get tanked on margaritas and Coronas,,and the reason why the 6th of May has become a leading “sorry cant make it in today Im sick” day. But lets ask the question why we do what we do on this beer loving day.

Now the normal response is who gives a crap why we celebrate the fifth of May,,just pass me another drink and get me a lime for my Cuervo shot. People people people! This day should be celebrated because Cinco De Mayo commemorates the victoty of the Mexican Militia over the French Army at the Battle Of Puebla in 1862. Yes you are all reading this going WOW!! This holiday means something to me now,,,this holiday actually changes everything about my being! I now want to be a better person!! NICE!!! So congratulations if you realize that this special day is more than just a hungover tomorrow… and with that being said..ahem!!…….PASS ME A FEW CORONAS AND SOME CUERVO!!! and I wont be in tomorrow boss, feeling a little sick! Happy Cinco De Mayo!!!

Mick Foley Show

by Ed Cho on May.02, 2010, under Blog Posting

Ok so last night I did a show with friends Matt Bridgestone, Max Lorenzi, Mr Will and of course Wrestling legend Mick Foley. While always a good time sharing the stage with my fellow Jersey funny men I was taken back by the comedy talents of Mick.  Now I know most of us know him as either Mankind..Dude Love or Cactus Jack…and people reference him to that incredible hell in the cell match with The Undertaker in which he was thrown off a steel cage into a table…. But…his talents dont end with a 15 ft dive onto a table that both concusses him and throws a tooth through his front lip. He brings his wrestling experiences to life with the mic and shares them in a comical way only he can. From being recognized as one of the top ten WWF (now WWE) wrestlers of all time and not being known for some of his other equally great accomplishments (Two NY Times Bestsellers..Numerous Charity events and causes) he spins great stories for the audiences to enjoy wrestling fan or not.

While talking after the show about future performances I can see how his celebrity can be an annoyance. While ironing out details for shows in the fall every friggin 30 sec someone was always asking for an autograph or pic!! This guy is kind and gracious to all his fans and I hope the autograph seekers will appreciate his new venture into stand up comedy and not as the guy that gets thrown off of steel cages.  Oh and BTW I should mention.. huge fan here and I never though I would be performing with this guy..PRETTY COOL!!

New Website!

by Ed Cho on May.01, 2010, under Blog Posting

Okay… for everyone that has been patiently waiting for my new site, here it is.

Now I don’t have to hear how shitty my site old is. I knew how shitty my old site was. Don’t want to hear it again!

So welcome to my new shitty site!

In all seriousness, this new site is a symbol of my commitment to getting back into performing stand-up. I took a much-needed break from it for a while and now I’m happy to be back. I’ve been trying out new material at various colleges, and I’m very grateful to them for remembering me and ushering me back onto the stage.

Special thanks to Penn State (despite my making fun of their football team), UConn (even though I teased their basketball team for not making the tournament), Fresno State (for the plethora of, shall we say, healthy looking women), Villanova (for having the most diverse crowd I’ve ever performed in front of), U of Florida (I think I may have been the reason Tim Tebow left), and my upcoming gig at Cal Poly, for allowing me to both bomb and soar over the past few months.

I’m actively putting together a college tour for the Fall 2010 semester (more details coming soon). I’ve also started twittering (god help me) and you should follow me at @edchocomedy.

That’s enough for now. Don’t want to go too crazy on my first day. Tell all your friends about the new site, dammit.
